“ It's been a while since my last review. It's not that we haven't dined out but lately we've been revisiting our favorite restaurants that I've already reviewed and given high marks. I guess once you've established favorites, going to another new place takes a bit of a push to experiment. So we visited the Village Deli for a quick meal after an afternoon church service. What a revelation! We didn't want to order too much since we weren't that hungry so we chose just an appetizer and a sandwich along with a side potato salad. All were absolutely delicious. The standout was the potato salad. It's definitely rare that the side order would outshine the main entrees but wow, this was so tasty that I think my wife and I are now addicted. So here's how we grade the entrees/apps Potato salad gets an A. The Roast Beef and Gouda Sandwich gets a B+. The Chicken Tenders get a B. The ambiance gives a tavern-like vibe with a lot of dark solid wood furniture and fixtures and my wife loves dark wood furniture! So for ambiance I give this an A. The service is typical of a cafeteria style dining experience and other than the fact that the place is clean and orderly means the service team are doing a good job maintaining the atmosphere. So that's a B, since that's expected. And given the area, this is supposed to be par for the course. We will definitely go back and check the rest of the menu! ”
“ We finally got in and had a great lunch here! It's always busy and packed, so that speaks volumes. Very diverse menu and something for everyone. The sweet potato fries are the best we have had in years! Look forward to going back in the Spring and sitting outside. ”
“ Our work team met here for an early supper last Saturday. We really liked being able to take our time before ordering, and the service was quick and efficient. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious! We sampled several paninis, the grilled citrus chicken, the BLT, onion rings, sweet potato fries, regular fries, and the soup. All were tasty except the regular fries were a bit bland. We will definitely be back! ”
“ As a new resident of Raleigh, I wanted to try this spot for lunch. It isn't far from where I'll be working and I was quite surprised how crowded it was on a weekday. So I figured it was worth a try. The cashier was very friendly and helped me figure out my order. I went with the turkey sandwich with the Vidalia onion dressing and pasta salad for my side. The food took maybe 10 minutes to prepare, which wasn't bad considering there was hardly a table to be found. Pretty good sandwich, nice quality ingredients, but certainly not the biggest I've ever had. The pasta salad was vegetarian, it had a tangy vinaigrette, it was solid. It was fine, but not what I would call special. ”
“ We were in the area, craving some sandwiches so here we are. The center was very very busy and so was this place. The dining room was full, but the line was short and also it moves fast. We also got our order really fast, which was great and unexpected. The Reuben was good. I asked the cashier what her favorite sandwich was and I've been getting better at trying the suggested item(s) bc I asked for it lol. I wouldn't usually pick this if I'm craving sandwiches but got the Philly cheesesteak, as she suggested. It was good, but nothing spectacular or extraordinary. Could use some sauce bc the beef was a little bit on the drier side. The sweet potato fries and onion rings were also good, and their ranch is top tier, as well as their chipotle aioli. Staff was friendly and welcoming! ”
“ I've been here several times and I LOVE this place. They have an expansive menu of sandwiches and wraps. I've had a turkey sandwich and a chicken Caesar wrap and both were excellent. Their sweet potato fries are so delicious and they give a generous portion of them. On our last visit, I got a burger. I was surprised that they allowed me to specify a cook for it. I ordered medium-rare and it was spot on. Not only that, it was probably the tastiest burger I've had in my first year living here (I had the patty melt). When I had the regular fries though, I was less impressed. So my recommendation would be to stick with the sweet potato variant. I also like that they feature local artists on the walls. Try this place! It is one of my favorite spots in the city. ”
